What is The Universal Law of Attraction?
There has been a lot of talk recently about this amazing thing called the universal law of attraction, but what is it?
Mostly what you will here are fairly general references to manifestation, visualization, attracting all you desire, health, wealth and happiness etc, but what the hell is the universal law of attraction?
There is the occasional reference to quantum science, but very few law of attraction practitioners seem to be able to answer the question directly, and I’m fairly certain this is simply because they do not know.
That’s not to say you need to have detailed knowledge about how the universal law of attraction works before you can use it effectively, not at all, in fact we are all using it every moment of our lives, it’s inescapable we just don’t use it properly to our benefit.
However, if you take the time to understand the deeper things about this amazing principal, you will be amazed at how easily you can apply it to every area of your life, and at how quickly it works.
So let’s take a look at some of the basics around how the universal law of attraction works, and then briefly consider some of the methods we can use to apply it more affectively to our lives.
The first thing I would like to say, and this may come as quite a shock, the universal law of attraction is not about things. WHAT!! Have I gone mad? No, the belief that the universal law of attraction is somehow about things is simply a misunderstanding of how it works.
I will attempt to explain briefly, but this is a complex subject and is not easy to summarize, if you would like to learn more about these ideas, you can check my web site www.transformingreality.com or read my book, “Law of Attraction - Cooperative Reality”, which can be downloaded from here.
Something you will often hear when people talk about the universal law of attraction is that it is the most powerful law in the universe; again this is a basic misunderstanding about how it works. It is subject to a number of other powerful universal laws, and when we use methods like visualization to manifest things in our lives, there are a number of key things happening, and the law of attraction is just one part in a larger scheme.
Here is a short list, it’s a kind of process list, even though it’s impossible to tell exactly which order these things occur in, it should help us to see the bigger picture.
1. We start in our mind, using LOA techniques like visualization, intentions, and vision boards.
2. These techniques serve two important purposes; firstly they begin to create a neural structure in our brain based around that new vision of reality, and secondly, by the law of attraction, they create a vibration in the universe that connects with corresponding vibrations in the minds of other people. (This is vital, and really the basis of how the law of attraction works)
3. And this brand new mental hardware exists, in order for us to believe and feel the truth of our new reality.
4. Once we have firm belief about a new reality existing for us, a whole bunch of things begin to happen. Our sub conscious directs our attention to things otherwise unnoticed, we become inspired, and our sub conscious also instructs our body to respond in favour of the new belief.
5. There exists within quantum science a theory called the collapse of the wave function. Basically it refers to the existence of sub atomic particles in more than one location simultaneously, until they are consciously observed. Scientist, conduct complex experiments that demonstrate this phenomena, and I would thoroughly recommend reading a book called “What the Bleep do we know?” It is a real help in understanding the science behind the law of attraction. Simply put, your reality is not set until it is observed, and at the moment of your conscious interaction, your reality is set to the location that you “believe” it should be, and everyone is doing this at the same time.
6. In comes the law of attraction. As we strengthen our own beliefs and increase the potency of the vibration we are putting out into the quantum field, we affect the beliefs of other individuals around us to collapse the wave function in our favour.
7. The universal law of attraction is not about things, it is about people, I call this concept Cooperative Reality.
Anything that occurs in your reality externally, involves the reality of other individuals. There isn’t a particular thing that you desire, other than a person (and that is a whole other subject), which has a mental vibration. In order to attract an object, we need to realise all of the supporting things that can bring the object of our desire to us, and understand that it is people that make it happen (including you), not some abstract thing called the universe, so often referred to when we hear teaching about the universal law of attraction.
I would greatly encourage you to pursue more investigation into this concept, once I began to understand, what was really happening, when I attempted to apply the methods used in the universal law of attraction, I started to see rapid reality changing results.

There are a number of different visualization techniques you can use within the Law of Attraction, and interestingly not all of them involve seeing images in the mind.
Of course the most common visualization technique described, involves trying to achieve a kind of holographic state, where you not only see an image in the mind, but you also try and engage all of the other senses, smell, touch, taste and sound.
This is very wonderful and can be quite resfreshing, but unless you understand what it is you are trying to achieve, it’s not going to do you much good.
The first and most important thing to remember with any kind of visualization technique is that you must be consistant, you must use the method every day, and I will explain why.
When we visualize, we are not sending out a request to the universe, then waiting for it to respond by the law of attraction. Visualization techniques are designed to create a brand new neural structure in your brain, based around your new image of reality.
When we visualize on a consistent basis, we continue to strengthen the neural connections for our new image of reality. The purpose of this construction work is to create a level of belief and expectation within us that will be powerful enough to have an effect with the law of attraction.
If you would like to understand more about the science behind visualizing and creating neural structures, you can read the article on my home page
But let is now take a look at some of the visualization techniques we can use, and how to get the most out of them.
Holographic Visualization
As I mentioned before the most commonly mentioned method of visualization is holographic visualization, so we start there.
What we are attempting to achieve during a holographic visualization is the maximum sense of feeling about a particular image of reality, and here is what you need to do.
1. Get yourself to a comfortable place free from distraction, you will need at least 10 minutes.
2. Settle your mind as much as possible, and control your breathing, you may wish to use meditation techniques.
3. Once your mind is quiet, begin by bringing up a picture of your new reality in your mind, it is best to keep it simple, one thing at a time.
4. Hold that image in your minds eye then slowly begin to consider the other senses around that image.
5. Go into as much detail as possible, by doing this you start to associate previously unattached neural connections to this new reality.
6. You should at this point begin to generate associated feeling with the image, this is very important, because whenever you feel something strongly, you create a series of chemicals in the brain that actually strengthen neural connections.
7. Hold this image and particularly the feelings for at least 10 minutes.
8. Before you finish, hold a sense of gratitude for this new reality, this also helps to strengthen the connections.
Again it is important to do this each day, consistency is a great key to many things.
Guided Visualization
The next visualization technique we will look at is called Guided Visualization or Meditation.
Guided Meditation is particularly good for those who have trouble settling the mind, it can assist in directing you to feelings of a positive nature, allowing the conscious mind to relax.
A guided meditation uses 3 main things, music, spoken word and story.
The music allows the conscious mind to become distracted and also creates times of emotion throughout the meditation.
With the spoken word, the guide takes you on a journey, often using metaphors within the story to open the sub conscious to new possibilities. The more you listen to the guided meditation the more your brain builds the new structure of that possitive reality.
You can download a free guided meditation here.
Daily Visualization
The next visualization technique may seem almost to easy, but I find it is actually the most practical and benificial of all the methods.
It’s very simple, any time you become aware that your thinking of your dreams, or considering one of your intentions, hold an image in your mind at that moment, just for a few seconds or as long as you are able.
You will find over time, this kind of practice becomes habitual, and the more you do this, the easier it becomes.
Conclusion
As I have said before, the main purpose of visualization techniques is to create pathways in the brain dedicated to your new image of reality.
It is good to spend time visualizing, but it is more important to do it consistently.
Happy Visualizing
Peter

Visualization is an excellent tool within the law of attraction, but I don’t think a lot of people understand what is actually happening when they use it, and before we can learn how to visualize, we need to understand what we are doing.
When we visualize an image in the mind, we aren’t tying to directly attract the object of our desire. What we are doing is rewiring the brain, constructing a brand new neural network in order for us to believe and expect a new reality.
There are a number of different methods we can use to achieve the same result as visualization and we will look at those in a moment, but first let’s look at what happens when we visualize.
As we hold an image in our minds on a consistent daily basis, our brain begins to construct a neural framework for that new image of reality, the more we visualize, the stronger that neural framework becomes.
As we strengthen the neural connections, we increase the potency of the mental vibrations that we are transmitting to the universe or quantum field. But this is not to connect with the object we are visualizing, but to connect with the minds of other individuals.
Why do we want to connect with the minds of other individuals? This is a very difficult subject to summarise, but I will do my best.
There exists within quantum science a theory called the collapse of the wave function.
Basically it refers to the existence of sub atomic particles in more than one location simultaneously, until they are consciously observed.
Scientist conduct complex experiments that demonstrate this phenomena, and I would thoroughly recommend reading a book called “What the Bleep do We know?” It is a real help in understanding the science behind the law of attraction.
Simply put, your reality is not set until it is observed, and at the moment of your conscious interaction, your reality is set to the location that you “believe” it should be, and everyone is doing this at the same time.
In comes the law of attraction. As we strengthen our own beliefs and increase the potency of the vibration we are putting out into the quantum field, we affect the beliefs of other individuals around us to collapse the wave function in our favour.
The law of attraction is not about things, it is about people.
Now there are a number of other methods you can use to achieve the same result.
The first, and my personal favourite, is taken from the teachings of Ramtha, he calls it “Create your day”, and here is how it works.
In the morning when you first open your eyes, make simple concise statements about how you would like your day to unfold, ie: if you’re highly stressed you might state, “Today I am going to be calm and relaxed”.
Your mind is more pliable at this moment, more open to new ideas, and easily able to begin constructing the neural framework of your new reality.
Do this each day, and I assure you the benefits will become immediately apparent.
The second method is called an intention list.
Simply write down a list of all the things in your life you would like to change or get rid of, then next to it write the exact opposite, new reality. Use only positive statements, because the mind doesn’t need to do much rewiring to incorporate “I don’t want to”.
So there are a couple of methods for those who may have trouble with graphic visualization, I hope you have found this helpful in understanding how to visualize properly.
